Joomla! < 1.5.12 Multiple XSS vulnerabilities in HTTP Headers
Multiple XSS vulnerabilities in Joomla! HTTP headers, specifically in the HTTP_REFERER variable.
Antecedentes
Joomla! is an award-winning, open-source content management system (CMS) that allows you to build websites and online applications. It is the most popular website software due to its ease of use and extensibility.
Description
Joomla! does not sanitize user input. An attacker can inject JavaScript or DHTML that executes in the victim's browser to steal cookies. HTTP headers are not processed correctly, specifically the HTTP_REFERER variable, which is printed without escaping on line 225 of components/com_content/views/article/tmpl/form.php.
Business impact
An attacker can inject DHTML and JavaScript code into the victim's browser, which can lead to cookie theft and access to the user account, even with administrative privileges.
Affected systems
Joomla! versions earlier than 1.5.12 (including up to 1.5.11).
Solución
Update to version 1.5.12.
