Tikiwiki CMS is vulnerable to path traversal attack
Directory traversal vulnerability in Tikiwiki CMS via tiki-listmovies.php.
Antecedentes
Tikiwiki (Tiki) is a free and open-source (LGPL) content management system that combines wikis, forums, blogs, articles, galleries, maps, and a link directory. It is widely used on the Internet and has been audited for years by the security community.
Description
The tiki-listmovies.php script allows reading the first 1000 bytes of an arbitrary file. It takes the value of the movie parameter, removes the last 4 bytes, adds the .xml extension, opens the file with fopen, and reads 1000 bytes, which are used as the values for the MovieWidth and MovieHeight HTML tags, and the resulting HTML is returned to the user.
Business impact
Confidentiality is directly breached: by obtaining configuration files, the attacker will likely gain access to the system and also compromise integrity.
Affected systems
All versions of Tikiwiki up to 1.9.9.
Solución
Update to version 1.9.9 or apply the patch.
