BlueSocket web administration vulnerable to XSS
Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability in the BlueSecure web administration interface, allowing administrator credentials to be stolen.
Antecedentes
BSC 2100 is part of Bluesocket's BlueSecure family: controllers that offer policy-based security and management for WLAN networks and have been deployed in hundreds of large organizations.
Description
The Perl script admin.pl does not sanitize inputs and, when the username field is overwritten, allows HTML and script code to be executed in the browser. The vulnerability is in the product management and has only been tested on the BSC 2100. An attacker can send a fake email to the administrator, spoofing the product's address, with a manipulated link; if the administrator authenticates on the seemingly normal interface, their credentials are sent to the attacker.
Business impact
Administrator credentials can be stolen through social engineering attacks.
Affected systems
Versions earlier than 5.2 or without the 5.1.1-BluePatch patch.
Solución
Update to version 5.2 or apply the 5.1.1-BluePatch patch.
